Thoughtful Tuesday: Think Service, Think Success

Posted on: March 29, 2011

What you do matters. It has a purpose in your life and in someone else’s. While it may not seem like it today, you are embarking on a journey that could very well change the world. Maybe not in a dramatic way, but when you change the life of just one person, you change their outlook. That, it itself, will cause a ripple effect that is sure to affect thousands, if not millions, of people!

How can you take what you’re working towards and utilize it to benefit others? Even if you don’t think it’s possible, there is something about your goal that is purposely created just for use by others. No matter if it’s a talent or a trade, a product or a proposal, a service or a story, it is needed by someone out there. They could be the most receptive individual or the most guarded. At any rate, if the message is for them, if the service is needed in their live, they will be receptive to it.

Not only do you need to think of your goal as a means to serve others, you are also here to serve others. It’s not just about business, it’s about life! We are ALL here to serve and to be served. The roles are interchangeable and we play them both simultaneously day in and day out. When we’re doing one and not the other, the balance is “off”. That’s when it seems like life has thrown a curveball, the Universe is against us, and God is plotting our downfall. In all actuality, it’s really just a sign that you are either not serving enough or aren’t being open to being served. Yes, there are people whom feel like no one should serve them (I used to be one of those people) because it seems selfish and greedy. It’s all in how you look at it. We all need to give. We all need to receive. They are polar opposites. You can’t have one without the other, and you can’t do one without the other. Remaining open to serving and being served will allow you to stay as balanced as humanly possible.

Think about the many ways you can serve others through reaching your goals. Think about the many ways you can serve others through your personal life. Then think about how open and receptive YOU are to receiving service from others. It’s a cycle that must be kept in check. When something is out of whack, trust me, you’ll know. Once you figure out which side it is, implement it and get things back in alignment again. This one simple step makes the journey so much easier. Or maybe I should say more bearable. Go serve and be served. Make sure you’re in balance. If you’re not, re-align and get back to it!
